Meet Kay

Kay is a busy mom (3), grandma (3), and great-grandma (4) from Texas has been a trooper dealing with Crohn’s for 48-50 years! In that timeframe, she has had 3 resections (section of her intestine removed) as a result of her Crohn’s. Kay has been on quite a few different medications, but her go-to drug right now is Entyvio. CBD oil and it has really cut … Continue reading Meet Kay

July Roundup

I woke up to a message from a friend from high school telling me that his 15 year old daughter has been battling Crohn’s for the last 5 years and Remicade has been good for her until recently. I think back on my days dealing with Crohn’s at the age of 15 and trying to deal with sports and the flares of Crohn’s. It can … Continue reading July Roundup

Meet Sterlyng

Sterlyng is a busy mom of one from South Dakota and has been battling Crohn’s for about 2 years. She has had one surgery and it was a laparoscopic resection. (I believe this is the first time I have heard this.) This would eliminate the standard 8-10 week recovery time for a standard procedure. Steerlyng hasn’t been in remission, is currently her drug of choice … Continue reading Meet Sterlyng

Meet Erika

Erika has been a Crohn’s fighter for 11 years. In that timeframe, she has gone through 2 surgeries. Even after a few surgeries, she hasn’t really been in remission and battles Crohn’s every day. Currently, her go-to drugs are Stelara and Immuran. She has tried some of the biologics like Remicade, Humira and Cimzia, but she was unresponsive on those drugs. She like many others, … Continue reading Meet Erika

Business Travel and Running

I am ‘fortunate’ where I am able to do a little travel with my job. The one thing you can’t do is not train just because you are traveling. In the last 2 weeks, I have been in Mid-Ohio, Southern Ohio and Northern Kentucky. I have been asked why I don’t take a little time off while traveling. The fact is, I love taking in … Continue reading Business Travel and Running

Meet Ben

Ben is a long-time fellow ‘crohnnie’ that has been down the same road as I and has dealt with Crohn’s for 21 years. He also knows what it’s like to train for events like a marathon. He has done the same thing as I with Team Challenge with CCFA to raise awareness and money to fight this awful disease and ran 6 half and 2 … Continue reading Meet Ben

Meet Gabrielle

Gabrielle from North Carolina has had Crohn’s for 10 years now. Her 10 month old baby keeps her busy along with dealing with her Crohn’s on a daily basis. She has been fortunate in not having any surgeries and has been able to control her Crohn’s with medications like Entyvio and Immuran. Gabrielle has a fear like all of us Crohnnies and that is the … Continue reading Meet Gabrielle

Meet Enid

Enid is a 17 year survivor of Crohn’s disease. Luckily, she has been in remission for 2 years. However, it has come with a lot of bumps and challenges going through 11 surgeries! She, like many others, are living with an ostomy which can be a challenge at times. This is fairly common after going through 11 surgeries to have an ostomy as there is … Continue reading Meet Enid
