Meet Brooke

IMG_1165Brooke from New Zealand is a newer face to Crohn’s Disease and has had it for 5 months now. Some of the things that challenges her on a daily basis is fatigue, achy joints, cramps, ulcers, hair loss and the list goes on.

Since she is early on in her journey with Crohn’s, she is scared that it will progress and become worse. This is a common theme for all of us as being in a flare just sucks. You are exhausted all the time, cramping, and just not well at all. She is currently on Immuran and Prednisone.

She, like many others, mention that it is a hidden disability. Even though you can’t see that there’s anything wrong from the outside, we are battling a disease from the inside. I know that looking back on my journey with Crohn’s, I had over 20 blood transfusions in one year. You would have never known about it from the outside looking in, but it is something that we battle all the time.

Things that Crohn’s has held her back from is outdoor activities/fun. When having active Crohn’s, you have to be aware of your surroundings and know where there is a bathroom for that just in case moment. This can keep you from doing things like long hikes, camping, etc.

Brooke is one of the reasons I run.

Want to help find a cure? Please help me get to my new goal of $3000 and support me and my ‘crohnnies’ help find a cure and run this marathon together.

You can donate here in support the CCFA.
