Meet Kay

Kay is a busy mom (3), grandma (3), and great-grandma (4) from Texas has been a trooper dealing with Crohn’s for 48-50 years! In that timeframe, she has had 3 resections (section of her intestine removed) as a result of her Crohn’s.

Kay has been on quite a few different medications, but her go-to drug right now is Entyvio. CBD oil and it has really cut my bathroom trips, and couldn’t do anything without God on my side. She has been in remission for 20 years, so there is hope for all of my Crohnnies.

There are a lot of daily challenges that we all face with Crohn’s, and her biggest challenge is going place because you just never know when you will have that urge to need a bathroom. This is a real thing for all of us. We all prefer something with some privacy and that might nit be available to us at any given time. With that in mind, we all have to be careful in what we eat when we leave the house. With short intestines, things move quickly.

Kay stated something that made me laugh. “Crohn’s is not for sissies, you have to be tough.” This is sooo true. We all learn to just deal with our symptoms and get through our day no matter the pain level. We just don’t have a choice, and Kay is a testament to this with her kids, grandkids, and great grandchildren.

There are a lot of challenges with Crohn’s. It is an expensive disease! It can hold us back from doing extra-curricular things and go on vacations.

In Kay’s what little free time she has, she likes to paint, make candles, raise butterflies and plumeria.

It is people like Kay that I run.

Want to help find a cure? Please help me get to my new goal of $3000 and support me and my ‘crohnnies’ help find a cure and run this marathon together.

You can donate here in support the CCFA.
