Work Travel and Running

IMG_1425This past week was a week jammed with meetings for our semi-annual company summit. It can be easy to just pass on the running and stay out late with your co-workers, but in the end, it will just hurt you. I managed to be in bed by 10ish every night with the exception of one night. The marathon training doesn’t stop.

I would get up in the morning and pull up mapmyrun to see what was around me as far as trails or sidewalks were concerned. I was out the door of the hotel between 5:30 and 6 which was quite easy for me since I was on Central time and live on Eastern time. So technically, I was running about an hour later than what I am used to.

While in for our company meetings, we had lost a team member that had been with our company since the beginning about a week prior. Our CEO created a tribute wall which was absolutely amazing. Di Ana was known for saying “Do what you love, and love what you do.” We had the opportunity to write on the wall what we love. To look at the wall with different phrases on it was so cool. On my run this morning, I was reflecting on this moment (you can see this amazing moment here).  There were a lot of great comments up on the wall. A lot had to do with kids, family, work family, sunsets/sunrises, helping others, giving back. Mine was time with kids, family, and running. I never would have put running up on there 6ish months ago, but I have learned to love it. It has helped me have my personal time to decompress before the day gets started.

During the week, I had a few wins:

  • A PR for a 5k at 24:35 (7:54/mile)
  • A PR for 10 mile at 1:33:17 (beat previous by over 2 minutes)

Want to help find a cure? Please help me get to my new goal of $2500 and support me and my ‘crohnnies’ help find a cure and run this marathon together.
