The other day during one of my runs, I got to thinking of doing something a little different and that is highlighting different people that I am running for that battle this disease on a daily basis. I am planning on writing names for those that I run for on my calf(ves) when I run the Chicago Marathon. Stacey is the first of my ‘interviewees’ that I get to highlight.
Stacey is a long-time acquaintance in the same industry as I and has battled Crohn’s for 6 years now. In our business with travel and business meetings and dinners, Crohn’s can be a challenge. She’s married to Brian and has 2 sons and 6 dogs!!
Stacey’s from West Virginia and has had 3 surgeries, which is not uncommon for a ‘crohnnie,’ one of which was fairly recent. Since we are connected via social media and run in the ‘same circles,’ I have gotten to know her a little and see her fight through some of the battles we face on a daily basis like fatigue and just trying to get through the day.
I will say that she is the first person that I know that is treating her Crohn’s all naturally with CBD oil, digestive enzymes, and Curamed. She’s been in remission for 9 months now, so this might be worth checking out.
The one thing that she wants people to know that we fight on a daily basis is “Pushing forward is more difficult than we let on, there is pain, confusion, anger behind the smile.” This is so true. As chronic sufferers, we just learn to deal with it and push on through the pain and fatigue.
The one thing that does scare her at times, which I can relate to is eating before traveling or eating before any important function, commitments to functions. In our industry, there are a lot of meetings, travel and conferences.
Stacey is one of the reasons I run.
